Vanguards' paddlers blaze mastery in Table Tennis clash, eyes set on Game 5

MSU Office of Student Affairs — In a closely-contested battle, the College of Social Sciences and Humanities (CSSH) smashed down Senior High School (SHS) in a gripping Table Tennis match in a clutch 2-1 rout during the second day of Intramurals 2023, October 5.

Fueled by agility, CSSH's Ivan Rey Carl Asilum dominated the first two sets, leaving the Siklab bet stunned. However, SHS' Aldywn Nobleza made a remarkable comeback, securing the last three sets.

CSSH made a strong resurgence in the Doubles A match, fielding the dynamic duo of Jedz Harry Pumares and John Nickolai Villegas. Their exceptional coordination and teamwork proved to be a winning combination, showing no mercy with a 3-0 sweep, 11-5, 11-3, 11-2.

In the Singles B match, the competition remained fierce as Von Mar Cagape from CSSH and Reuben Tupas from SHS battled it out. The match ended with a close 3-2 call, 11-6, 10-12, 13-11, 7- 11, 10-12.

Reflecting on the preparation for the Intramurals, Cagape praised the team's effort.

"Preparation-wise, months before intrams, our team undergoes intense training. We put in a lot of effort, even scheduling tune-up matches with other colleges to ensure we bring our best to the competition,” he said.

Following this win, the Vanguards are now set to face the School of Graduates in Game 5.
