With the ratification of the 2023 Constitution and By-Laws of the Supreme Student Council during the Special General Assembly, the MSUans have finally agreed on the 30-peso increase in the organization’s membership fee, June 3.

The said increment was one of the major amendments from the 2016 CBL that sparked discussions among its members.

Among those who fought for the said increment was the president of the College of Education Students’ Organization, Rhoda May Ebad, who emphasized the need for the members to collaborate in the pursuit of greater good. "We are not just here to demand. We are here to collaborate. Remember, as MSUans instilled by the values of service, your 80 pesos will help a lot na maging benepisyaryo sa atong mga programa."

Ebad also expressed that “the demand for a better service is high as years pass by,” and that the organization can realize it by ensuring financial stability. She exclaimed that the 50 pesos could not sustain all the programs and services the organization renders due to higher cost. The SSC showed the development plan that proved the organization’s budget deficit to sustain the planned programs.

However, despite the privilege speeches of some of the concon delegates, a member asked about the breakdown of the 80 pesos to know where it would go. This was then answered by Romeo Tejada, Concon chairperson, who clarified that the 80 pesos is an open fund, hence, the organization cannot present a breakdown until the next semestral planning of SSC is done.

Other amendments made include the addition of undersecretaries, qualifications for the election, and inclusion of fines for the officers should they be absent during meetings. Along with it, the general assembly also approved the additional Article XIV Fiscal Policy, to safeguard the financial flow of the organization. The ratification of the CBL was a success, and the P80 SSC fee will be effective for the next school year.
