MSUan urges vigilance as boarding house gets ransacked during university break




GENERAL SANTOS CITY, April 08 – A student from Mindanao State University has urged other boarders to be vigilant after their boarding house in Employees Village, Block 2, Fatima, Uhaw was found ransacked at 9 in the morning,

during the declared mental health break of the university.


Diana Faith Ramoran, a 4th year Bachelor of Science in Electronics Engineering (BSECE) said that she went to her boarding house to retrieve some of her belongings, but was shocked to discover that five rooms were already open.


“Halos tanang rooms kay naguba ang mga doorknobs and naa pud naka-kandado na room pero ilang giguba jud. Sa iba na room kay sa sliding na window ila gipilit open,” she explained.

Ramoran explained that the ransacked rooms belonged to students of MSU who had returned to their hometowns following the announcement of the mental health break.


Upon discovering the incident, Ramoran informed their landlady, who immediately contacted the police at around 9:50 am.





The authorities conducted an initial inspection of the premises and requested a list of the stolen items to be reported back to the police station.


According to Ramoran, the reported stolen items primarily consisted of two laptops, cellphones, an iPad and gold jewelry.


“As of now di pajud macheck tanang nawala kay kalat pa kaayo ang mga rooms,” she said.

In an interview, Ramoran also emphasized that other student-boarders should bring along gadgets and other important items during instances when students go home an leave their boarding houses.


She also reminded them to be extra careful make sure their boarding houses have enough lights and working locks on doors and windows.


“Before kay balewala rajud ko ani pero now na na experience nako, scary jud siya,” she said.
