With only days to prepare for the event, the Human Resource Management (HRM) students and their professor from College of Business Administration and Accountancy (CBAA) brought home two champion titles, two 2nd runner-up titles, and one 1st runner-up title during the 33rd COMEPP National Conference held at New Town Hotel, Baguio City, November 16 to 18.
Seven delegates from Mindanao State University - General Santos (MSU-GenSan), composed of Lito Gallego, Kristina Maureen Buhian, Cederex Basay, Ellaiza Febb Vanessa Salubre, Agnes Paraiso, Aurora Izabelle Lacuna, and Aila Marie Decusto, clinched the Champion title for the Best Poster category, 2nd runner-up in the Best Abstract category, and 2nd runner-up in the Best Oral Presenter in the student category while presenting their research titled "Extent of Implementation of Policies at Brigada Group of Companies Incorporated: Basis for SOGIE-Inclusive Handbook."
Furthermore, the delegate's Business Video Advertisement, created by Gallego, Tamer Intoman, Salubre, Elaine Jan Tablizo, and Ani Tasarra, was held champion, while Dr. Kenneth L. Sanido, CHRP, who is also the president of the COMEPP Mindanao Chapter, secured 1st runner-up in the Best oral presenter - professional category.
Gallego, one of the delegates and the President of the Junior Institute of Human Resource Managers (JIHRM) of MSU-Gensan, revealed in an interview that they only had days to prepare for the different events of the conference.
“This month, more than the academic requirements, we had to prepare for our HR week which is days prior to COMEPP. The abstract and poster, ginawa lang talaga siya less than a day just to make it to the deadline. As the presenter of our research, I only had 3 days of preparation for the competition. We only had an afternoon vacant time to shoot [for the Business Video Advertisement] and 2 days to edit,” Gallego remarked.
Gallego also shared that they had financial constraints and expressed gratefulness for the JIHRM of CBAA for subsidizing their flight tickets, the administration for covering the delegate’s registration fee, and the additional expenses were also covered by individuals, including professors and staff who willingly contributed funds.
