Miss MSU 2023 sparks traction; Malong gown attire gains praise

As the university mines its gold, excavating 50 years of progress, excellence, and honor, Miss MSU 2023 streaks the golden year showcasing stunning refinements after long years.

Spearheaded by the Office of Student Affairs and Services, the event received various reactions and praise, particularly for the reliving of the Malong Gown attire and the program finishing earlier than the other activities.

"Naging challenging siya because for the longest time, binalik siya sa administration yung pag ma-manage. Personally, nangangapa kami for something new, marami kaming binago na segments particularly yung pagbabalik ng malong gown creation. For a while, nawala ‘yan siya sa limelight, ‘yan yung branding ng Miss MSU talaga. We are proud to say na sa edition na ito, binalik natin yung creativity ng malong gown creation," Rhumer Lañojan, the director of the OSA said in an interview.

"It took us time to choose the judges well. Nagpapasalamat tayo kasi we started on time and we ended early. This is the first time in history siguro na natapos tayo ng 11 kasi kadalasan natatapos na tayo mga 12 or 2 am," the director further expressed.

Lañojan even added that in this edition they also advocated for patronizing own and local talents and that most of the creations, including the creation of attire and make-up, are done by the students.

Online buzz

"I love that Ms. MSU brought back the old, not super sophisticated types of pageant questions that are generic and can be answered with or without ample knowledge of a specific topic," a post by Em S. Yuan on Facebook as a comment to the said event.

While marking history with the first ever crown of the College of Fisheries in half a century, as of October 9 at 7 a.m., Miss MSU became trending in the Philippines.
