Charging into the spotlight for their first-ever title game appearance, the College of Education (COEd) Mentors outmaneuvered the College of Fisheries (COF) Anglers after a nail-biting five-set clash in sepak takraw at the University Sepak Takraw Court on October 14.

Starting strong, the Anglers dominated the first set, quickly jumping to a 4-0 lead with explosive spikes from Johnhazel Hemperoso. They maintained their momentum, securing the set 15-11.
However, the Mentors responded fiercely in the second set. Fueled by their twice-to-beat advantage, COEd stormed to an early 4-0 lead, thanks to strong plays from Aldous Raphael Tangpos and Em-Jay Dinglasa. They held on to win the set 15-12, leveling the match at one
set apiece.
Battling fiercely, the Anglers surged back in the third set, executing key plays to take the lead and clinching the set 15-12.
Determined to fight back, the Mentors staged a comeback in the fourth set after trailing 5-0.
Fueled by clutch plays and relentless teamwork, the Mentors edged out the Anglers 17-15, setting the stage for a decisive fifth set.
With the leadership of Cañas and Tangpos, the Mentors dominated the final set with a double-digit lead, sealing the championship.
After the match, Cañas expressed his joy, stating, “Naka-feel ko og happy kay syempre gisaligan gid ko sa mentors na magbuo og team.”
With this victory, the Mentors claimed their first championship title, while COF settled for silver and the College of Agriculture took home the bronze.
