Lowland folk, retro dance revise results; CSSH drops 7th RU, COE jumps to 3rd RU

In the newly released rankings of the dance competition results, lowland folk and retro dance were changed, impacting CSSH and COE respectively.

The new rankings were signed by Zita S. Puti-an, chairperson of the Dance Committee, and Rhumer Lañojan, Socio-cultural Committee head, and were publicized last noon, October 9.

FOLK DANCE CHANGES

Vanguards dropped to 7th runner-up from the initially announced 1st runner-up during the lowland folk dance competition.

The new results place the ASTEEGs in the 2nd-runner-up podium finish, while the College of Fisheries ranks up to 1st-runner-up.

"Makahappy jod kaayo kay we believed gid na we deserve a podium finish na award, sad lang na wala mi na recognize ato na moment pero vv [very] happy with the updated results," an ASTEEGs lowland folk dancer, shares in an interview.

On the bottom rankings, Tycoons ranks up to 6th runner-up from the initial 8th place, and the College of Medicine was placed 8th runner-up, clinching the last place.

RETRO DANCE CHANGES

The 3rd runner-up spot of the retro dance competition was also changed after ASTEEGs jumped to 3rd runner-up from the initial 6th runner-up.

Mentors were pushed down to 4th runner-up from their initial 3rd-runner-up position, while the rest of the win-placing remained the same.

VANGUARD DANCERS' PERSPECTIVE

"Of course, masakit; however wala man sa amin ang control— it is really up to the judges and the committee," Frances Dana Llamera, Vanguard's lowland folk dancer, expresses her sentiment on dropping to 7th runner-up.

"Siguro it was unforeseen circumstances lang jud that we haven't prepared for like technicalities and the likes," she added.

Vanguards dancers hold on to the narrative that they are 'the champions in the hearts of the whole Vanguards community' from an interview.

"However, whatever the results are, alam namin sa sarili namin na we gave our hearts and souls to that performance. We saw the smile of the audience, of the vanguards, we heard their applause. Doon pa lang, panalo na kami," Llamera posited.

THE LENS OF ASTEEGS

"Very thankful kos sa officers nga gipaglaban jod among placing and award," a dancer pegged. "Ana ang mga officers mali ang formula sa tabulations mismo tas gicheck nila and manual solve."

"Ang whole colleges aware sa ani and na inform napod sila, it was clear and settled," they share the resolution done to settle the final rankings of the event. "Naopen sya actually after sa dance night na settle sya according sa ESO officers mga 1 am."

The official results were officialized after three days during the Dance Night Competition, after the resolution last October 6, midnight.
