Displaying academic and engineering prowess, selected students from the Junior Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines (JIECEP-MSU-GSC) chapter, will join the nationwide Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines (IECEP) Students' Summit this year.
The university will also represent Region 12 in that nationwide event, which will be on November 11-13 through ‘Zoom’ and on November 14-15 which will take place at the UP Bahay ng Alumni in UP Diliman, Quezon City.
However, the organization wants to call their fellow MSU-GSC students for additional financial support to help cover their expenses for registration, transportation, and accommodation to participate fully in this significant event.
In an interview by Bagwis, JIECEP-MSU-GSC’s Vice President (external) Francisco Torendon II, emphasized that while support from fellow students is not a requirement, it would be meaningful for their mission of bringing recognition to the entire student body.
“We want to give pride and recognition to our university by bringing it to the national stage and we want to showcase what students from MSU-GenSan can do…..Our purpose extends to the whole student body, the administration, and the university,” he said.
They also believe that by having students represent MSU-GSC at national events, the university can establish itself as both a nationally recognized and globally competitive institution.
“The university has always strived to be a globally competitive institution. However, this is a process that should (happen) within our country. And so, by starting to send students to represent the university in the national stage could be a step to becoming not only globally competitive but also a nation bearer university.” Torendon II uttered.
The organization’s vice president shared that the national competition provides a unique chance for participants to develop both their skills and competitive spirit.
Torendon II was also one of the participants in the ‘Bit The Bees’ competition of that prestigious event, together with Vincent Laruan, Sean Benedict Panal, Prince Zulkifl Mangondato, Naizar Piang, and Christian Benedict Eduvas, in which their team hailed as champions in the Regional Summit last October 4-5 at Koronadal City, South Cotabato.
In addition, also the qualifiers for the national stage were from the ‘Datathon’ team who were also the champions from the regionals, which were represented by Immanuelle Fyan Langoyan, Aegyro Loquias, and Edrian Samperoy.
Moreover, the ‘Math Olympiad’ team that took the first runner-up slot, were represented by Mish-Al Akir, Joshua Michael Balbuena, and Christian Ian Charles Salas; and the ‘Impromptu Speech’ event that took the same placing, which was joined by Sophia Angela Omac, will also participate in the said IECEP event.
