UNLEASHING PASSION TO HELP. Mindanao State University-General Santos City workforce push-carted a number of donated bottled water for the victims of severe tropical storm Paeng in Southern Mindanao.
In the quest to extend sincerest solidarity for Paeng-hit communities in Southern Mindanao, the relief donations collected from the Kadtatabangay: Campus-wide Donation Drive have already been picked up from the Institute for Peace and Development in Mindanao (IPDM) Office by Mindanao State University- Maguindanao team, November 9.
The Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs of MSU-GSC, Dr. Mishell D. Lawas, graced the turn-over of relief goods along with IPDM Peace Action Coordinator Prof. Najifah P. Macaraya and the representatives of the organizations that participated in the donation drive.
The collected relief goods to be distributed include bottled water, canned goods, sacks of rice, shampoos, liquid soap, toothbrushes, clothes, slippers, and biscuits, pillows, blankets, and sanitary goods.
STUDENTS ENCOURAGED TO DO VOLUNTEERISM
Professor Macaraya during the interview emphasized that Mindanao State University-General Santos City does not just want to produce professionals but seeks to produce peace champions as well. “We are actually encouraging our students to be volunteers because that is one step to become peace champions," she quoted.
Macaraya has also sincerely expressed her warmest gratitude to the kind-hearted people who took part in the said donation drive. “I’m very happy and thankful to our student donors, the prime movers which is the University Peace Champion, and all the organizations that collaborated with this very good initiative,” she added.
