CESO clutches opening of CESO Fiesta amid paperwork snag

Despite facing numerous challenges, including unexpected paperworks, the College of Education Student’s Organization (CESO) clutched the opening of its CESO Fiesta at the university quadrangle, March 6.

In an interview with Bagwis, CESO President, Hon. Frank Jeay Montebon, enumerated the challenges encountered by the organization in preparation for the week-long event, such as busy schedules, internal miscommunication, and unforeseen document requirements.

According to Montebon, the challenges with regard to the papers and documents—an indispensable part of campus activities preparation, were exacerbated by the consecutive holidays before the schedule of the event and the hectic preparations for Women’s Month at the start of March.

Additionally, the discrepancy in the college's policies and those of the Office of Student Affairs (OSA) added complexity to the process as it led to a redundancy in the requirements that they needed to comply.

“‘Yung iba ang gi set ni college na rules, iba yung sa OSA, I think ‘yan ‘yung mga problema. Then, at the same time, because minsan hindi mag tugma ‘yung mga requirements, doble doble ‘yung mga i-comply namin na mga requirements. But again, we should follow pa rin because, nag release kasi ‘yung dean namin ng another memo, yung mga need na papers sa kanya,” Montebon said.

Moreover, Montebon noted the challenges faced by neophyte officers in navigating administrative processes, while reflecting on his previous role as the CESO Vice President handling the paperworks on last year's CESO Fiesta.

“Last time kasi ako yung isa sa mga nag head [para] asikasuhin ang mga papers. So para sa akin, madali agad kasi kilala ko na yung mga nasa offices, madali lang makausap [kung] ano ‘yung mga requirements. But [this time], since actually a lot of my officers, neophyte officers, so isa siya sa challenge sa akin. So may mga papers na hindi kaaagad maaprobahan because may miscommunication between the admin and the officers,” Montebon remarked.

Despite the obstacles, Montebon expressed gratitude for the responsiveness of the OSA and their college dean's office even during late hours.

The CESO Fiesta, running from March 6 to March 15, features a series of activities including sports, public speaking, and literary contest, among others.
