‘Blueprint’-led Asteegs hailed as overall champion in 2nd CDP competition, nearly sweep all award categories

In a battle of journalistic prowess, the College of Engineering (COE) Asteegs stood alone as the champion of the Collaborative Desktop Publishing (CDP) competition, bagging four of five page categories in the said event during the awarding ceremonies of the Literary Night last October 14.

The group was led by numerous journalists from the ‘Blueprint’, which is the official student publication of College in Engineering.

Sharing his sentiments, Kyle Jeoffer Victorio, a fourth year student and also their editorial writer, said he didn't expect that they'll win the title and that “they didn't polish their output during the event.”

“Pagkita pa lang nako sa Facebook page gainang aga, nakit-an nako ang engagements sa Education ug sa CNSM na mas taas pa sa amoa…Pero pagtawag pa lang sa Editorial Page na akoa pa gid to, murag nawala gid tanan nakong ginaisip ba. Di jud ko katuo, sa tinuod lang jud,” Victorio said.

He admitted that the time limit was their huge struggle—which was evident for them as they didn't finish their output in time while also emphasizing that he had huge faith in his team.

The editorial writer added that they worked on their speed and in keeping up with the news while having only a little time to practice.

“Gi work out jud namo among best sa speed, among content gi tarong gyud namo ug maayo…kay kabalo wala mi maabot nga peak unless mag settle mi,” he said.

COE brought home the Best in Layout, Best in Editorial Page, Best Feature Page and Best Sports Page while the College of Education (COED) Mentors took the Best News Page award, and also the first runner-up of the aforementioned event.

Meanwhile, College of Social Sciences and Humanities (CSSH) Vanguards finished as 2nd runner-up, Senior High School (SHS) Legends placed 3rd, College of Agriculture (COA)Reapers on 4th, College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics (CNSM) Wizards get 5th, College of Fisheries (COF) Anglers at 6th, and standing in 7th is the College of Business Administration and Accountancy (CBAA) Tycoons.

“Padayun lang japun. Padayun ug intensify sa content then padayun lang ug uphold sa Journalism,” Victorio said when asked about looking forward to defending the title next year.
