14,000 MSUan aspirants ink in SASE ‘25, pave ways for university ingress

Approximately 14,000 senior high school students put themselves into the test to become the next batch of MSUans and ‘Iskolar ng Bayan’ during the Mindanao State University - System Admission and Scholarship Examination (MSU-SASE) 2025.

Students from different schools in which MSU-GSC campus was their main choice, gathered in several designated testing centers, hoping to pass the examination last December 1, 2024.\

In an interview, Admission Director and SASE Coordinator, Prof. Jerry J. Dela Cruz said that the system made the exam date earlier citing that it will affect the enrollment process of the takers.

“Apektado tayo kasi in the sense na ‘yung mga SASE takers natin na medyo alanganin ‘yung mga score nila, they cannot wait for us na kailan sila pwedeng ma-accomodate….so ‘pag mataas pa ‘yung time at nalaman natin na ‘di pala sila mag-enroll dito, so naka-lower na ang cutoff kasi we give mean to SASE, wala naman tayong ibang criteria, kundi SASE lang,” Dela Cruz added.

According to them, it was the same preparations that the university initiated, the other different thing is that for the first time, all proctors assigned were from the faculties of different colleges.

“Priority man talaga ang faculty because we know na faculty members have at least a first-hand experience in classroom management,” the admission director stressed.

Dela Cruz also clarified that more than 8,000 takers were destined in the Gensan campus to take the exam while the others were assigned to their different testing centers.

SASE hopefuls voices

Sharing her sentiments, Chris Xyreene Mancao, a STEM student from Glan School of Arts and Trades, admitted that she didn't have enough preparations due to her hectic academic schedule.

“We just reviewed like gi scan na lang namo ang reviewers from sites since we didn't have enough time to study talaga,” Mancao remarked.

On the other hand, it was the complete opposite for John Lloyd Galvan, a STEM student from General Santos Doctors’ Medical School Foundation Inc. (GSDMSFI), as he studied efficiently and prepared through prayers and hopes.

“I expect that the education would become efficient especially that this school is a top performing school and that we would learn also from the professors as well and also from our peers,” Galvan said on his expectations once admitted to the university.

Meanwhile, Princess Mae Norcod, also a STEM student from Silway-8 National High School, felt good after she took the exam and described that the exam was calm for her.

“It was easy, but sa Math medyo tagilid and expected nako na maglisod mi sa Science pero mga na-tackle naman to na lessons,” Norcod said.

The examination ran from 8 AM to 3 PM, with morning and afternoon sessions initiated.

SASE 2025 results will be made visible on the MSU Main website soon, indicating the next phase in these aspiring entrants' pursuit to join the MSU community.
